Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Short Block Operator on 2nd shift in our Cold-Chop Department at our Lakeland, FL manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for safely operating machinery and equipment used in the manufacturing process to produce products for both internal and external customers as defined by a daily production schedule.
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operational excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to communicate and coordinate with Carpenter Employees of all levels to safely and efficiently meet daily production demands.
Additional responsibilities of the Short Block Operator will include:
Perform length, thickness, and width quality checks with a tape measure.
- Maintain efficient operation of the chop saw to include cutting foam slabs to proper length.
- Must report conditions to his/her supervisor that may affect the operation of the chop saw.
- Adjust the crush rollers to obtain proper ILD for foam slabs.
- Must be able to read and understand cutting programs.
- Assist material handlers as directed by his/her supervisor.
- Perform length, thickness, and width quality checks with a tape measure.
- Maintain efficient operation of the chop saw to include cutting foam slabs to proper length.
- Must be able to drive a forklift truck.
Skills / Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
- Must be able to obtain a company forklift license
- Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
