Carpenter has an immediate opening for a Production Manager on 1st shift at our Albert Lea, MN manufacturing plant, reporting to the Branch Manager.  Carpenter Co. is the world's largest producer of comfort cushioning products. This position is responsible for managing and directing hourly personnel in daily operations, quality, safety and value of order.

Additional responsibilities of the Production Manager will include:

  • Responsible for management of production, quality and personnel related functions of the branch.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Review and approve all department personnel time records on a daily basis.
  • Identify and develop capable people with the talent to contribute to the company.
  • Manage and maintain a safe operation as per all company standards and guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain a level of quality consistent with customer expectations using Kaizen continuous improvement methods.
  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Review production/operating reports, resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent delays.
  • Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Approve daily production schedules and plan future production requirements.
  • Ensure the adherence to the daily agenda, monitor and adjust as required.
  • Ensure company policy is being communicated and adhered to.

Skills / Requirements

  • 3+ years prior Manufacturing experience
  • Some prior management and/or lead person experience
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to efficiently manage people, processes and production
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred
