Job Description

Carpenter Co has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Specialist at our Lakeland, Florida manufacturing plant.  This position is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations and functions within the Human Resources department including payroll processing, interviewing, hiring, background checks, and orientation. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Placing job bid notices and position ads, and recruiting for all hourly positions.
  • Administering pre-employment drug screens, background checks, planning and conducting new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Record keeping including creating and maintaining personnel files, personnel transactions (PANs) for new  hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations.
  • Responding to employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Maintaining knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensuring policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Supports Division Human Resources Department in all facets of human resources administration to include recruiting, on-boarding, training, benefits, and payroll.
  • Administering performance review program.

Skills / Requirements

  • High school diploma required, Associates degree preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.  Ability to read, write, and speak in Spanish fluently.
  • 2+ years of prior human resources experience, some labor law knowledge preferred
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Customer service oriented with a team player attitude to help with additional duties within the company, as needed
  • Well organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work appropriately
  • SAP/Kronos experience desired.
