Carpenter Co has an immediate opening for Checker Loader on 2nd shift in the Shipping department at our Riverside, CA manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for safely and efficiently unloading/loading trucks, perform final quality check on finished product, and load on trailer per customer requirements. This position works in a normal production/maintenance environment with exposure to temperature changes and loud noise. Major challenges include proper loading of material on trucks to maximize usage of space.
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the successful candidate, you will be expected to maintain daily communications with department coworkers, manager, company and commercial drivers.
Your additional responsibilities as a Checker Loader will include:
- Load trucks in proper sequence.
- Check loading tickets.
- Lockout trailers before loading and unlock once loading is complete.
- Use forklift to load trailers as needed.
- Record and track information in inventory control system.
- Verify trucks have been loaded properly.
- Move stock in loading area as necessary.
- Inspect trailers for damage.
- Run manifest and bills of lading.
- Handle finished bedding goods up to 75 lbs
- Lock out and chock wheels.
- Use computers to scan rolls.
Skills and requirements
- Must be able to read and interpret a tape measure
- Basic computer skills
- Basic reading, writing and math skills
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime
- Forklift Certified
Pay depends on qualifications and experience. The Checker Loader hourly rate starts at $22.55 per hour.
