Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
Carpenter Co has immediate openings for a Maintenance Mechanic at our Riverside, CA manufacturing plant. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager, and is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, or replacing mechanical equipment or mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical devices and components. Additionally, the Mechanic will often fabricate any mechanical devices or items which will requiring shop skills or tools as requested. In this position, incumbent will communicate continuously with department managers and employees to coordinate mechanical and electrical repairs. This position will ensure that all machinery, equipment, delivery systems, support systems and fabrication of items essential to the manufacturing product(s) for internal and external customers is maintained and operating to meet optimum efficiency. This position works in a normal production/maintenance environment with exposure to temperature changes. Major challenges of the position include working independently on very involved and complex jobs.
Position Description
- Perform basic plumbing on machinery and/or equipment.
- Perform basic electrical repair on machinery and/or equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Weld and use a cutting torch, plasma cutter, cut-off saw, and machine-shop equipment.
- Report conditions encountered that may affect the operation of the equipment.
- Fabricate any mechanical assembly, install and make operational.
- Travel to other Carpenter Co. locations when needed.
- Assemble and disassemble equipment.
- Ready equipment for shipment to other locations.
- Read and interpret machine diagrams and plant layout drawings.
- Recognize potential mechanical problems, plan a solution for repair, and implement the plan.
- Maintain plant fire system.
- Serve on plant emergency response team.
- Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
Requirements and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 - 5 years experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
- 2-3 years or specialty or technical training.
- 1-2 years of additional Mechanic/Electrician experience required to perform the job.
- Good communication and advanced math skills.
- Must be forklift certified.
- Ability to operate a genie boom, and scissor lift.
- Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
- Must possess a variety of personally owned industrial hand tools.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and call-in with little notice.
Pay depends on qualifications and experience. The Maintenance Mechanic A hourly rate starts at $30.67 per hour and $25.87 per hour for Maintenance Mechanic B.
