Job Description

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for an IT Manager at our Riverside, CA manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for maintaining company computers and user technical infrastructure.

The IT Manager will be expected to use Microsoft and other third party provided tools to support and maintain company applications, servers, desktops, laptops, print devices, mobile device management, as well as remote users to ensure optimal software and hardware performance, updates, upgrades, reliability, troubleshooting, including network and data security.  


Additional responsibilities of the IT Manager will include:

  • Oversees all daily IT system administration related tasks such as network monitoring, security, user support, project management.
  • Oversees all system operations, including: office and production plant equipment, data communication, LAD administration and plant operation issues.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, ongoing technical assistance
  • Administers the creation and maintenance of groups and group policies using Active Directory
  • Stage, configure, and manage new and existing server systems and applications
  • Research and test new applications and utilities relevant to IT operations
  • Analyze the functioning of the manufacturing system as a whole
  • Develop computer information resources, providing for data security and control, strategic computing, and disaster recovery.
  • Works alone or collaboratively on assigned projects and tasks
  • Maintains computer and network topology diagrams
  • Provide support if called after hours as needed
  • Ensures compliance with corporate software policies; especially with respect to ensuring purchasing and running legal copies of software
  • Setup/modify workspace for new hires and employees as needed
  • Effectively lead, support and develop IT Staff
  • This is an onsite position

Skills / Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree preferred
  • 7+ years AD administration, desktop user support, application, computer software/hardware and network support.
  • Computer Skills: MS Office, SAP a plus.  Must have knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software including applications and programming
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Must be able to work in normal production plant environment with temperature changes
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
