EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) Manager

Carpenter Co. has a rewarding opportunity for an EHS Manager at our Tupelo, MS plant to support both Division and Corporate safety goals and objectives.  This is a great opportunity for someone hoping to make a career in health and safety!


  • Responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of safety and environmental programs in Tupelo, MS to assure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and the company’s policies.
  • Provide leadership to Division management to ensure compliance with S/H Standards, Company Policies and the prevention of occupational injuries/illnesses and associated WC costs.
  • Manage the WC Program including reporting, claims administration with adjuster and documentation to ensure compliance with State WC Statutes.
  • Conduct research or perform investigation for the purpose of identifying, abating, or eliminating sources of pollutants or hazards that affect either the environment or the health of our workers and the local population.
  • Conduct or coordinate employee safety and environmental training in the branch.
  • Responsible for coordinating and participating in emergency response training and provides leadership in the event of emergencies involving environmental, health and safety.
  • Manage and schedule hazardous & non-hazardous waste pickups.
  • Participate in OSHA, DOT, RCRA, EPA, MDEQ, Health Department, Consumer Products/Social Compliance, and all internal audits and inspections.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science or related field is required. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  • Five+ years’ experience in environmental, safety, and industrial health management in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination sufficient to perform essential functions of this position.
  • Must be aware of both environmental and safety laws in state and federal government.  
  • Familiarity with chemical usage, containment and disposal.
  • Ability to work successfully in an autonomous environment.
  • Great organization and leadership skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and be willing to work as a team member in a “hands-on" environment.
