Carpenter Co. has an opening for an Associate Research Engineer at our Technical Center located in Richmond, Virginia. This position is responsible in managing daily activities in the Fiber Testing Laboratory and provide support for Carpenter Co.’s efforts in the Fibers area, including the Furniture & Bedding, Consumer Products, and Automotive markets.

As the successful candidate, you will be expected to become well acquainted with the Company’s products and manufacturing processes and will interact with Sales, Operations, Suppliers and Customers. 

Your additional responsibilities as an Associate Research Engineer will include:

  • Manage day to day activities in the Technical Center’s Fiber Testing Laboratory.
  • Provide technical support for Fiber Products to sales, manufacturing plants, and customers.
  • Conduct monthly technical review meetings.
  • Work with other members of the Polymer Products Group as well as other groups within the Company on larger projects.

 

Skills / Requirements

  • 4 year technical college degree.
  • Capability to apply basic scientific principles.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) experience.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a time sensitive manner.
  • Auto Cad/SolidWorks experience is a plus
